Who We Are

Having grown up making clothes for myself, I grew more adventurous in my pursuit for fun and practical clothing. Eventually I broadened my horizons to include vintage, and then historical clothing. The arrival of a mini me expanded my sewing into children's clothing; modern, vintage and historical.

After I fell pregnant, my husband joined me for the first scan. His relief at finding only one baby was outweighed by his fascination with the image on the screen. A misspent youth working in an wildlife sanctuary led to his comparing the fuzzy and indistinct scan to the x-ray of a turtle in its shell. From then on, we were expecting Turtle.

Sew Turtle is the result of wanting unusual, fun, practical and more gender-neutral clothes for my daughter. Some of the items are vintage or historical inspired, and all of them practical for daily life with a little one.
